Hankinnan lyhyt kuvausTurku Centre for Chemical and Molecular Analytics (CCMA) needs to replace its QTOF resolution instrument which is primarily used by chemists to characterize their synthesized compounds. Therefore, this instrument needs to be simple to use and be accessible to a wide range of users and molecule types. It must be capable of reliably generating mass accuracy of less than 5ppm as required for publications. The main molecules that are generated range from small organic molecules to metal bound oligonucleotides. Instrument needs to act in an open access type fashion and therefore need to be used by a broad range of users. The ease of calibration by all users to obtain accurate mass data is critical as well as the ease of use for sample submission. UHPLC is needed to ensure rapid analytical methods to avoid salt contamination which currently occurs via direct infusion. Therefore, the flexibility if the UHPLC system is very important. However, given the budget constraints the ability to incorporate our older HPLC systems is also possible. The molecules that are routinely measured are very varied. However, the most frequently measured samples that are tricker would be metalated oligonucleotides. The ability to characterize these with UHPLC would be benifical.
